Auto Shanghai

Held since 1985 and organised by CCPIT Shanghai with the city's automotive associations and Messe München as international partner, Auto Shanghai alternates with Auto China in Beijing: Shanghai in odd years, Beijing in even years. It occupies the entire National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hongqiao, with press days followed by public days.

The show has become the stage on which China's new-energy vehicle industry — BYD, Geely and its brands, NIO, XPeng, Li Auto, Xiaomi, Huawei's partner brands, Chery, SAIC, Changan and dozens more — presents against Volkswagen, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Tesla and the other global makers, most of which now unveil China-specific models here. A components section covers batteries, drivetrains, driver-assistance systems, software and materials.

For trade visitors the value is the supply chain: the components halls and the presence of purchasing and engineering teams of every major maker. Dealers, importers of Chinese cars, fleet buyers and analysts attend the trade days; the public days draw hundreds of thousands of Shanghai visitors.

The 2025 edition reported more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 100 world premieres; Auto Shanghai 2027 is announced for 23 April – 2 May 2027 across about 380,000 square metres.

Trade registration is separate from public ticketing; press and trade days precede the public opening.
