bauma CHINA is Asia's largest construction and mining machinery fair, the Shanghai edition of Munich's bauma: every second November the Chinese excavator, crane and concrete-machinery makers — SANY, XCMG, Zoomlion, LiuGong — and their international competitors show machines on open-air and indoor ground to buyers from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

About the fair
Messe München has organised bauma CHINA in Shanghai since 2002 as a biennial counterpart to bauma in Munich. It fills the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong with construction, building-material and mining machinery, construction vehicles, components and services, and from 2026 adds the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in a two-venue format.
China is the world's largest producer of construction machinery, and the fair is where its manufacturers — SANY, XCMG, Zoomlion, LiuGong, Sunward, Shantui and many more — present export models against Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Volvo CE and the European component suppliers. Electric and hybrid machines, autonomous equipment and rental-fleet products have dominated recent editions.
Visitors are contractors, rental companies, dealers, mining operators and government buyers, predominantly from Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America — the markets to which Chinese machinery exports have grown fastest. The 2024 edition reported more than 3,500 exhibitors and over 300,000 visits.
The fair's size makes logistics the visitor's main task: outdoor demonstration areas, halls organised by machine type, and a Pudong location an hour from the city centre.
Admission is by professional pre-registration; the organiser and the German Pavilion issue invitation letters.
Visiting
- Even years only; the 2026 edition runs across two venues in Pudong with overlapping dates — check which halls are where
- Pre-register for a badge and, if needed, an invitation letter
- Wear walking shoes: the site is large and much of it is outdoor demonstration ground
- Metro Line 7 (Huamu Road) serves SNIEC; allow time for security and queues on the first day
- Dealers and rental buyers should book meetings with the large Chinese makers in advance — their stands are fully scheduled
