MWC Shanghai is the GSMA's Asian edition of Mobile World Congress: each June in Pudong the Chinese telecom operators and equipment makers — China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Huawei, ZTE — and the region's device, chip and platform companies present 5G-Advanced, 6G research, AI and industrial connectivity to operators, enterprises and regulators.

About the fair
The GSMA has held MWC Shanghai since 2012 alongside its Barcelona congress. It occupies the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong for three days in June with an exhibition, a ministerial and industry conference programme and the GSMA's partner events.
Exhibitors are dominated by the Chinese telecom ecosystem: the three operators, Huawei, ZTE, Xiaomi and the device makers, the chip designers, and the industrial and automotive companies that use 5G in factories, ports and vehicles. International equipment vendors and the Asian operators attend; the fair is where China's 5G-Advanced deployments and 6G research are shown to the industry.
The audience is professional — operators, enterprise buyers, regulators, analysts — with a large public-facing element on the last day. Themes have shifted from 5G rollout to AI in networks, satellite-terrestrial integration and industrial applications.
For foreign visitors the fair is a window on the Chinese telecom market rather than a sourcing event; meetings with the large vendors are arranged in advance.
Registration is through the GSMA; passes are sold in tiers, with discounted early registration.
Visiting
- Register early through the GSMA for the cheaper pass tiers
- SNIEC is in Pudong on Metro Line 7 (Huamu Road); hotels in Pudong or along Line 2 are practical
- Vendor meetings with Huawei, ZTE and the operators are booked weeks ahead
- The last day is open to a wider public and crowded
- Combine with MWC Shanghai's conference sessions on industrial 5G if you buy connectivity for factories
